Book Launch: The Temple of Fortuna by Elodie Harper

This week, Juliet, Kiya, and Emma attended the launch of The Temple of Fortuna, the much-anticipated final instalment in Elodie Harper’s Wolf Den Trilogy, at the London Review Bookshop.

Firstly, it must be said that we all found the London Review Bookshop, which is in the heart of Bloomsbury right by the British Museum, to be an utterly gorgeous venue for a book launch. We had to seriously resist the urge to buy every book in the entire shop!

The big event of the launch was the speeches, given by Nicolas Cheetham (Managing Director at Head of Zeus), Juliet, and Elodie. The speeches were moving, funny, and entertaining with references to Chekhov’s gun, to the joys of writing in the genre that you truly always wanted to write in, and to an enormous bouquet of flowers sent to Elodie by Juliet that Elodie struggled to get through her front door!  Elodie gave an emotional tribute to the many amazing people who have made the Wolf Den trilogy the success that is today, many of whom were in the room with us. Some guests were seen wiping tears from their eyes and it was touching to hear so many stories of support and of people uplifting each other.

After the speeches, the guests mingled for drinks around a beautiful display of the three books in the Wolf Den trilogy. Several guests were heard remarking that The Temple of Fortuna has a moment that makes you “punch the air”. We can confirm that this is not mere rumour.

You can order The Temple of Fortuna at Amazon and Waterstones.

About The Temple of Fortuna:

A courtesan in Rome. Playing for power. Haunted by her past. Her name is Amara. How will her fortunes fall?

Amara's journey has taken her far, from a lowly slave in Pompeii's brothel to a high-powered courtesan in Rome. She is now a freedwoman with wealth and influence, yet she is still drawn back to her past.

For while Amara is caught up in the political scheming of the Imperial palace, her daughter remains in Pompeii, raised by the only man she ever truly loved. Although she longs for her family, Amara knows they are safest while she is far away. Perhaps, with enough cunning and courage, she will manage to turn Fortuna's wheel in their favour.

But the year is ad 79, and Mount Vesuvius is preparing to make itself known...

The Temple of Fortuna is the dramatic final instalment in Elodie Harper's Sunday Times-bestselling Wolf Den trilogy, which reimagines the lives of women who have long been overlooked.
