Claire Alexander lives on the west coast of Scotland with her children. During her career as a freelance writer, she has written for The Washington PostThe Independent, The Huffington Post and Glamour.

In 2019, one of her essays was published in the award-winning literary anthology We Got This: Solo Mom Stories of Grit, Heart, and Humor.

Her debut novel, Meredith, Alone, was quickly pre-empted by Penguin Michael Joseph in a major six-figure deal, published in June 2022 and has been translated into 16 languages. Her second novel, The Pieces of Us, was published by Penguin Michael Joseph in August 2025.
