Lou Morgan is a scriptwriter and award-nominated adult and YA author.
Her debut contemporary adult novel, For All This Time, a romance with a speculative twist, was pre-empted for a six-figure sum and will be published by Penguin Michael Joseph in 2027.
Her first novel, Blood and Feathers – an adult urban fantasy – was published by Solaris Books in 2012 and the follow-up, Blood and Feathers: Rebellion, was released in the summer of 2013. Her first YA novel, Sleepless, was published by Stripes / Little Tiger Press as part of their Red Eye horror series, while her standalone YA thriller The Opposite of You was published (also by Stripes) in early 2017.
She has appeared at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Bath Children’s Literature Festival, and has been nominated for three British Fantasy Awards (Best Newcomer, and twice for Best Fantasy Novel). Her short stories have appeared in a wide variety of anthologies and she has written features for magazines including Future Publishing’s SFX Magazine and the Guardian’s children’s books page, as well as regularly chairing panels at literary festivals.
Between 2018 and 2024 she was a regular writer for Big Finish productions, writing hour-long, full cast audio plays across the extended Doctor Who universe: both creating original characters and storylines and working with existing IP including fan-favourite characters like Sir Derek Jacobi’s War Master.

As Maggie Harcourt
Maggie’s first book, The Last Summer of Us, is a moving contemporary YA novel about a 16-year old girl the summer after her mother dies. Usborne pre-empted rights and published it in spring 2015 as their lead YA title. It was nominated for the 2016 CILIP Carnegie Award.
Her second book, Unconventional, is set behind the scenes of a series of fan conventions and was published by Usborne in February 2017 while her third book, Theatrical, published in 2018 follows a teenage intern working as part of the crew of a major new stage production.
Her most recent novel, The Pieces of Ourselves, is a romance which tells the story of Flora, a teenager forced to drop out of school following mental health issues, as she uncovers the secret history of the hotel where she works. Published in 2020, it was shortlisted for the 2021 Sheffield Children’s Book Award.
She has appeared as Maggie at the Hay Festival, the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Bath Children’s Literature Festival.
