An Ordinary Wonder audiobook to be read by Bridgerton star Adjoa Andoh

Adjoa Andoh, who recently starred as Lady Danbury in the hit Netflix series "Bridgerton”, will read the audiobook for An Ordinary Wonder by Buki Papillon, out with Dialogue Books in March.

Juliet Mushens snapped up Papillon's debut novel in 2019. The Nigeria-born author's story is a coming-of-age tale "of the courage needed to be yourself", exploring "complex desires as well as challenges of family, identity, gender and culture, and what it means to feel whole".

It centres on Oto, who leaves for boarding school with one plan: excel and escape his cruel home. "Falling in love with his roommate was certainly not on the agenda, but fear and shame force him to hide his love and true self," reads the book's synopsis.

Papillon said: "I’d watched 'Bridgerton' in two days and was utterly dazzled by Adjoa Andoh’s performance as the beautiful, powerful and fabulous Lady Danbury, and so I was overjoyed to find out she would be narrating my novel, An Ordinary Wonder! When I watched her TEDx talk, What Determines Who We Are, I was moved by her ringing love and pride in her transgender son. I am delighted that such a talented human and enlightened spirit is giving voice to my audiobook."

An Ordinary Wonder will be published by Dialogue Books on 25th March 2021 in hardback, trade paperback, e-book and audio.
