Girl A by Abigail Dean is a Sunday Times Bestseller at #7

The “astonishing new crime thriller” from Abigail Dean, Girl A, has charted at number 7 on the Sunday Times Bestsellers List.

Described as “a modern day classic,” the novel follows Lex Gracie, or ‘Girl A’, as she is forced to come to terms with her childhood after her abusive mother dies in prison. A story of redemption, horror, and love, Girl A is Abigail Dean’s debut novel and instantly charted as a Sunday Times Bestseller upon its release.

Rights to the novel have sold in 30 territories worldwide, and Emmy-award winning director Johan Renck (Chernobyl) is reportedly in talks to direct the screen adaptation. Last month, it was reported that the actress Holliday Grainger will narrate the audiobook version of Girl A, voicing Lex Gracie.

Grainger said: “I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to voice Lex’s story. Girl A is an incredible tale of survival and hope, and I know it’s going to be huge next year. I hope people enjoy listening to the audiobook as much as I enjoyed recording it.”

Abigail Dean graduated from Cambridge with a Double First in English. She now works as a lawyer for Google, and is currently writing her second novel.
