The Daughters Of Madurai by Rajasree Variyar selected as March pick for Lilly’s Library

On International Women’s Day, we are delighted that Lilly’s Library has selected The Daughters of Madurai by Rajasree Variyar for their March pick. The novel spotlights the gender inequality in Tamil Nadu, India, exploring the dangerous reality that gender gaps and a preference for sons have on girls and women in school, the workplace and at home.

In the words of Lilly’s Library, “Gender inequality is not just a women’s issue. It is factually proven that if we had gender equality, everyone – men, women and all in-between – would benefit. So here’s to taking a small step to close the gender gap by reading this month’s Lilly’s Library pick, The Daughters of Madurai by Rajasree Variyar. It’s a beautiful, emotional family mystery that’ll have you asking the woman in your life about her stories.”

Congratulations, Rajasree!
