Polly grew up on the Suffolk coast, and now lives in Norfolk with her husband and son.

Prior to signing her publication deal, Polly was awarded both the Curtis Brown Creative Yesterday Scholarship, and the Annabel Abbs Creative Writing MA Scholarship at the University of East Anglia.

After two whirlwind pre-empts, her first novel, The Illustrated Child, was published in hardback last year in the UK and US. It was awarded runner up in the Bridport Prize’s Peggy Chapman Andrews Award for a First Novel, and is out this summer in paperback.

Polly’s second novel, The Unravelling, was released in the UK in January 2022, and the US the month before. Vita and the Birds, Polly’s third novel, was published in May 2023.

Polly is currently working on the second of two new YA novels, the first of which (This Tale is Forbidden) was published in January 2024 with Scholastic UK.
