Yvonne Liu is a Los Angeles–based writer whose work explores identity, mental health, and generational trauma. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times, NBC News, Salon, Newsweek, and elsewhere. Her viral HuffPost essay about keeping her adoption secret for decades reached over three million readers.
In 2025, she was one of only twelve writers awarded the James Patterson "Go Finish Your Book" grant. A Sewanee Writers' Conference Tennessee Williams Scholar in nonfiction, she has received support from PEN America and the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.
