Book Launch: FELLOW CREATURES by Emma Lowther

Last week, the Mushens Entertainment team descended on Daunt Books by Hampstead Heath during the peak of the heatwave to celebrate the publication of FELLOW CREATURES, the debut novel by Emma Lowther. At the launch, many enterprising guests customised their outfits with hand-held fans, sparkling water was the drink of choice, and a custom-made green and pink cake was gobbled fast before it could melt!

At the mid-point of the launch, Emma’s editor at Quercus, Kat Burdon, gave a speech describing how she immediately fell in love with Shannon, the protagonist, in FELLOW CREATURES. Emma then gave a moving speech, thanking the many people who have helped her on the road to becoming a debut author. A few tears were shed when Emma thanked her agent, Rachel, for changing her life. The speech was followed by the ceremonial cutting of a cake so elegant that guests felt as if they were attending a wedding.

At the end of the launch, the guests went off into the still bright evening, having bought many copies and thoroughly celebrated a rising talent.
