Mushens Entertainment Team Attends Philippa Malicka’s IN HER DEFENCE Book Launch

The Mushens Entertainment team visited The Court Room in Chancery Lane on a February Thursday for the launch of Phillipa Malicka’s IN HER DEFENCE. A more appropriate event space could not have been selected considering the trial at the centre of Philippa’s novel and the setting was certainly grand with a hammer beam ceiling, a gorgeous deep blue wall decorated to resemble a starry night, and even an original Jacobean fireplace. After climbing up the candle-lit winding staircase, guests mingled in the presence of the honoured youngest guest, Philippa’s newborn baby!

The speeches were a highlight of the evening. First, Kit Nevile, Philippa’s editor, gave a warm speech about his delight that IN HER DEFENCE is now out in the world and the fact that it has very excitedly been selected as the February 2026 pick for Reese’s Book Club. Then, Juliet Mushens gave a hilarious speech, as she reminisced about how wonderful it has been to work with Philippa on the phenomena that is IN HER DEFENCE. Finally, Philippa gave a charming speech about the origins of IN HER DEFENCE in the year she ‘permitted’ herself to spend in Rome before starting her first job, alongside thanking the many wonderful people who helped her in her journey to publication.

 To top this fantastic launch off, all the copies of IN HER DEFENCE sold out in record time! Huge congratulations, Philippa!
